The SJC Mission Built in 1776, one of Father Junipero Serra's historic missions known for the return of the swallows every March. The birthplace of Orange County, Mission San Juan Capistrano, was founded more than two centuries ago. Today it is a monument to California's multicultural history, embracing its Native American, Spanish, Mexican and European heritage. Originally built as a self sufficient community by Spanish padres and Indians, the Mission was a center for agriculture, industry, education and religion.

Currently on display: Where Masks Still Dance: New Guinea features 35 black-and-white photographs by acclaimed documentary photographer Chris Rainer, known for his revealing images of the earth’s last wilderness areas and isolated indigenous peoples who live there, on display through June 6, 2010.
